The Renogy 1000W Inverter PUH 12V Pure Sine Wave Inverter is a 3-in-1 unit. It delivers 1000W continuous and 2000W peak surge while adding a built-in Automatic Transfer Switch, Bluetooth, and compatibility with the Renogy app. Designed as a UPS-style inverter, it passes through shore power when available and switches to battery automatically when grid power drops. It targets small DIY campers, RV builds, and off-grid setups that connect to shore power.
I unboxed the Renogy 1000W Inverter PUH 12V and compared it side by side with the Renogy 1000W Inverter P2 12V. The physical footprint is larger. The PUH adds the ATS circuitry, Bluetooth module, and a shore power input, which all need space inside the housing. The aluminum heatsinks on the outer casing are a good thermal design; they passively dissipate heat before the fans engage.
The build quality is solid. Metal housing throughout, with fans behind a recessed grille. LED indicators are visible from a distance and color-coded for status versus fault. Mounting is straightforward with standard hardware. This is a unit I would install in a rear cargo area with confidence.
What’s in the Box
The package includes one wired remote controller, a manual, and the inverter. No battery cables are included with the PUH series. You will need to source appropriately sized cables for your installation. At 1000W and 12V, sustained loads can pull up to 83 amps. Minimum recommended cable is 4AWG for runs under six feet. Plan and purchase that before installation day.
The wired remote controller allows on/off switching from a distance. The Bluetooth module, already built in, pairs with the Renogy app on iOS and Android. Through the app, you can monitor input voltage, output load, error codes, and operating status without walking to the unit.

Protection Features
The Renogy 1000W Inverter PUH 12V is certified to UL, CE, and FCC standards and includes protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, short circuit, and overheating. The dual aluminum heatsinks and fan cooling keep operating temperatures in check. Noise level is rated at or below 51dB, which is quiet enough for a sleeping area in a van or the bedroom of an off-grid cabin.
The LED indicators on the front panel cover both normal operation and fault states, giving you a clear visual status without needing the app. That redundancy is the right design for a unit that may be mounted where the phone signal is intermittent.
Potential Point of Failure
The ATS is the component to watch over the life of this unit. Users have reported occasional clicking sounds during switching and, in some cases, a longer-than-expected delay. For most household loads, that delay is not a problem. For a PC with a spinning hard drive or any device that does not tolerate a half-second power gap, it can cause a crash or data loss. If your load list includes a sensitive computer, either use a true UPS device between the inverter and the PC, or choose the Renogy 1000W Inverter P2 12V for that load and switch manually.
The Bluetooth signal is the second concern. Mounted in a metal cabinet or steel cargo enclosure, the built-in Bluetooth module loses range significantly. If monitoring from the app is important to you, install the unit in a location with line-of-sight to where you typically use your phone, or extend the remote controller to an accessible panel instead.

Campground pedestals, garage outlets, and RV parks all deliver shore power that the ATS will use automatically, protecting your battery bank while keeping your outlets live. That single feature justifies the price premium over the Renogy 1000W Inverter P2 12V for any build where shore power access is part of the plan.
If you are building a 100% off-grid system that will never see a shore power connection, the Renogy 1000W Inverter P2 12V is a simpler, more reliable choice. Fewer components in the signal path means fewer potential points of failure and lower idle draw on your battery.
